Canon ImageBrowser (3.6) crashes on start

Well, lets just say this has never happened to me before with any other software yet; much less software that used to work! I'm quite baffled at the fact that ImageBrowser no longer wants to startup at all. I haven't really done much to my system since the last time I've used it other than change around a few folder icons. That's about as drastic as I think things get. Here's a dump from the log file that is created as I'm sure that's the most helpful thing.

Code:

Command: ImageBrowser

Path: /Applications/Canon Utilities/ImageBrowser/ImageBrowser.app/Contents/MacOSClassic/ImageBrowser

Version: 3.6.0.11 (3.6.0)

PID: 330

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)

There's a bunch more but it's really redundant and then goes into a bunch of listing of libraries and such. What's strange is I have no idea what could be causing this stuff to happen out of nowhere. I've already deleted and reinstalled the software; as well as got the latest "update" from the canon website. Everything is the same. Tried rebooting, powering down, etc. Nothing!

Any ideas on why I'm suddenly getting "bad access" calls in software that used to work? More generally is there anything I could have done to my system that might provoke this kind of behavior? Now I'm concerned that there may be something I'm doing that could cause this symptom in other software. :/

Thanks for any kind of help you may provide. I haven't had to debug a problem like this yet, so if you need more information let me know. Also, if I broke some newbie rule, it'd be nice to get set in place too, so be ruthless, I suppose.

Well then, it looks like I have found the solution before anyone even read my post. I was trying the most random of things at work tonight while I had no internet connection and I randomly decided to see if the preference file for the program had anything to do with the problem; behold: removing the preferences allowed the program to run fine. I have no idea what the problem was in the first place, since I didn't change any of my preferences, but: if anyone else has this similar problem, now you know what to do.
