At the Premiere party at the Apple Store in Palo Alto someone told me that this works within a very limited range like in the same room. That's all I know so far. You know it's a Jaguar feature of course.

i now know a little more... ayone know what sort of range you get without a base station ?

    Communicating with other computers wirelessly

You can create a wireless network between two or more AirPort-equipped computers without using an AirPort Base Station. You can share files or play your favorite multiplayer network game over the airwaves.

Open Internet Connect and choose AirPort from the Configure pop-up menu. Then choose Create Network from the Network pop-up menu.

You can also use the Signal Strength Dock Extra to create a Computer-to-Computer network.

Other AirPort-equipped computers in range can join the network you created.

I haven't tried it, but the range should be about the same.
