Gigabit ethernet is a plus (but I wonder how many will ever be connected to another gigabit device ).
Still walmart
Does it need a firewire card? Probably.... does it have built in wireless G and a DVD burner for under a grand. Yes.

Apple has dominated the laptop market, on competitave price and many other factors, our less than cutting edge hardware is alright for laptops but not in desktops. The value on apple desktops on the other hand is well lets say lacking. Consumers bow down to the almighty $$$

The closest you can get Mac-wise is the 14 inch iBook which needs more ram, the Superdrive upgrade, and also Airport Express added for additional cost. It also weighs 6 lbs stock and that is before they add the ram or airport express card.
? 512MB DDR266 (256MB built-in & 256MB SO-DIMM)
? 40GB Ultra ATA drive
? SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW)
? AirPort Extreme Card
? Keyboard/Mac OS X - U.S. English
? 14.1-inch TFT XGA display
? 1GHz PowerPC G4
? ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 w/ 32MB DDR video memory
Subtotal $1,678.00
That and the difference in price is almost $700 dollars. Most people don't mind giving up .5 to 1 lb for that difference in price.
Apple needs to do better. They are letting every product they produce stagnate except the iPod which keeps providing more for less and, not surprisingly, keeps selling out.

And RAM and AE cards are soooooo heavy...
It's funny how Windows will become more expensive than hardware.

Can you buy it without Windows? That might be interesting (pirate Windows of course after the fact.)

Actually, for the last year or so, many manufacturers have complained that Windows is indeed the most expensive part of the system.
