GHz coming out party

This is it. It's way beyond any rumor site. And it's the only piece of evidence that hints at something big enough to fit with <a href="http://www.apple.com."; target="_blank">www.apple.com.</a>

Steve is on record as saying that he wants to have a "GHz coming out party" on the Cupertino campus.

Think about it...everything is in place:

G5: For the powermacs.

Apollo G4: For Titanium, or iMac.

Sahara G3: for iBook, or iMac.

The real question is whether the iMac gets a G4 or not. I'm leaning towards no, so maybe then I'll be surprised.

So all Apple computers will be at 1 GHz and beyond after MWSF. That's pretty big, but not really when you consider that Wintels have been at 1 GHz and beyond for ages. Just like Apple to overhype something.

There's more planned. They are not overhyping.

    Ok, well maybe not.

I wonder if Steve Jobs reads MOSR? Because if it's going to be beyond MOSR, then Apple will have to top a G5 dodecahedron! Doeh!!

According to MOSR's "Mole" (we'll know when the time comes of course) - if the PowerMac line goes G5, Moto will pass-a-pineapple if Apple doesn't do something with all those Apollo chips Moto will otherwise get stuck with.

So, if we get a G5, the iMacs will probably wind up going G4 Apollo.

Note: according to that same mole's G5 predictions, by now - two G5 chip runs will have taken place, with one still left to go for Jan 3rd. So Apple will now know the true availability of 1.0, 1.2 & 1.4 GHz G5's ... allowing them to go gagga with the hype with confidence.

This may explain things ... but still, who knows.

and could you hint us on what you do know? Otherwise your post isn't of much value to us, it doesn't even get us excited, Apple has got us way too high for that

The only thing I can say is that the rumor sites (including the forums here) seem to be way off indeed, as Apple's site points out. If I tell you much more than that I risk losing my job (besides, why spoil the surprise, right?).

What have we heard? Now not all of this is from Rumors sites since some has just been message board speculation but here goes.

G5 (insert your fav. speeds here)

    LCD iMac (w/wo tabletesq features)

Tablet (one of my personal faves)

PDA (I'd rather have more screen)

    FW2 (Gigawire? I'm still not sure GW=FW2)

    AirPort2 (801.11a)

iPod2 (the next digital device - Cam? QT Player?)

Some that get discussed much less often...

Apple somehow providing high-speed internet (maybe via that company doing cube/satellite stuff?!) Drool but it would seem pretty far off the radar since you can't just throw those things up into space all by yourself and to keep launch news secret isn't really an option since NASA doesn't really work that way...

    Apple going Intel (blech ptew)

OS X going Intel (A dangerous move)

OS X running Intel stuff native.. (not outta the question since VP5 can do it)

Apple doing X10 stuff.. (home control etc)

Now you can't tell me than the stuff Steve is gonna talk about doesn't in some way factor into one/more of the items outlined above.

Then again if it doesn't then I guess we need to "Think Different" some more.

Apple merges with Sony, afterwards both get a division of Disney AOL Time Warner and MS gets a 51% share majority to finance everything.

THAT would not fit into anything mentioned yet.

    I also recall these threads:

    wearable computers

Apple buyout of Moto SC business

the iWalk stuff over at SpyMac

    iPicture/iPhoto

set top boxes (DVD, Audio, MP3, etc. connect to home stereo)

    GameCube compatible iMacs

    I'm sure there's a few more yet...

You have to admit, AI posters do indeed "Think Different" (perhaps "Think Goofy" is more appropo...). If none of this is related to what Apple is coming out with, then my hat's off to them. Bring it on, Steve-o!

Didn't Motorola have some satellites? Dish and DirectTV don't support Macs. Would be nice. Apple buys the satellites and Motorola ups the work on G5. But I thought they sent those satellites to the graveyard??

NO Iridium was saved in the last minute, after having been abandoned and set for crash landing in the ocean...The satellites are still up there, but I doubt that's got anything to do with MWSF.
