My dad operates a computer on Mac OS X 10.3.5. He used an application called FileBuddy ver. 8 to get rid of orphan files. But when the orphan files were deleted. The computer no longer let us login and gave us a blue screen with a file folder in the middle. We were finally without knowing it able to get to the Unix code and bott from there. We then reinstalled OS X 10.3 and the upgrade, but when we shut the computer down we ended up getting the blue screen again and after four hours of trying we got back to the Unix command line and booted on the computer. How would we get back onto the computer by using the login feature once again? It should also be noted that before we deleted the orphan files we backed them up yet we have no idea on how to find out where they go. Any advice???

Thanks in advance for your help.

Boot from the OS-X installation CD. Do a archive and install after running disk check. Check the genius bar forum for instructions on how to do this.
