PowerMac G4 + Studio Display - Display not waking

Hi there

I recently "took the plunge" and upgraded to Panther from Jaguar. OS wise it is pretty darn neat. My applications remained the same. I have upgraded to 10.3.5.

I now seem to have an issue where the monitor will not wake along with the computer from sleep. It is erratic, I have not been able to deduce a pattern yet. For a few days it would do it every time it slept, now it hasn't done it in 4 days.

I checked out console.log/system.log and haven't found any huge warnings. I use the HP AiO 6.3.4 driver and knowing their, um, quality, I am wondering if maybe that is the culprit. Unfortunately I can't find any log to tell me why.

So.. in case anyone can help.. um.. thanks

Here is a system.log snip from being put to sleep to not waking up (monitor-wise, computer is up and i have to restart it in order to regain monitor)

Is this the CRT 17 inch studio display?

I have this problem as well each now and then. The way i fix it is try pressing the sleep button { on display} to shut it down and then release it just before it does. there is a KNACK to it, Then it seems to wake again with the " are you sure you want to shut down" dialogue box and i press cancel. A bit archaic i know but seems to work.

But you probable have one of these cool ass new flat thingys anyway.

Yes sir, the CRT 17" , and I have just been holding it down to shut off. I will try to time it and see if I can jolt it awake

By any chance are you an HP owner/user or do you have their drivers installed?

I am at once relieved to hear this issue is shared by others and annoyed that if so shared it appears to be an OS issue.

thanks for the reply!! Anybody else out there?
