do they sound better?? look awful?? are they made to have the covers stay on and actually sound best that way??? just thinking that i don't have to worry about young children shoving pencils in them, nor college boys puking into them, so i would remove them if it improved the sound.....g

You should take them off - if you don't have a little kid trying to shove pencils into it, there's no sense having them on there killing your sound.

hell...maybe i don't have protective covers....nothing comes off these speakers....except the tiny screws...and that just releases the speaker from the clear casing....always thought the solid silver center should come off...doesn't seem to....perhaps...if i...just pull....Harder....uhhhh.....g

My speakers didn't come with them, but I saw them on somebody else's speakers. I wonder why I didn't get them. I thought a 3rd party company made them until I asked where they came from.

Were talking the pro sepakers that come with G4 iMac?

I have these and have wondered why they didn't ship with speaker grilles, cos there is a indented rim around the outside edge where a grille might fit.

Anyone know where to get a set of grilles for them?

I'm thinking you're not supposed to rip the silver part off..

And i think what everyone else is talking about is the grilles that came on the original cube and pro speakers.

Okay so they weren't exactly grilles...just sort of deccorations...3 giant holes aren't going to stop much.

yes....my speakers never came with grills....yes i was attempting to take the solid metal part off....yes, in essence i was trying to ruin my speakers....luckily i wasn't trying very hard and they are still fine....yes, i is not to good with the thinking.....g

Jeez. I'm surprised this thread went so far without someone looking up how the speakers *should* look.
