What the hell happened while I was gone?

I wake up this morning, check Macrumors, check AI, play UT for a few hours, finish my summer reading essay, and then go downtown for some social interaction.



I come back in the evening, sit down at my G5 at 7:30 Eastern, and AI has dragged TempInsanity out of the trash, and some weird photos and sketches have been going across the net?





It seems that everybody but me has already become privy to all this leakage, can somebody kindly explain to me the sequence of events that have apparently occurred in the last 7 hours?

    On Friday (several days ago, not 7 hours ago) some clown was bored so he decided to take pictures of an LG flat panel display inside an authentic apple box inside an elevator which contained dirt and may or may not have contained a blood spot. He said his buddy worked in a paris airport and magically opened a box in the expo elevator that belonged to apple and it magically looked like the description of the new iMac. A whole bunch of other bored people decided to begin debating this clowns creation asw to whether it was an iMac or a cleverly designed rumproast. AppleInsider mentioned something about it in their latest article on apple stock but stated the images were false. Most of the bored clowns called the original clowns bluff on the forums as well, but several other websites (mainly ones that aren't English based) were gullible, thought they were real, and stole them and reposted them (the photos). So now you have a whole buncha bored americans, a whole buncha bored french people and international journalists who have less information on the iMac than sites like AI and TS, but must write a story to join in on the hype. These journalist then cite some of the crazy foreign sites that copied the pictures from the AppleInsider forums and say that it may be the new iMac and post their articles on places like zdnet and cnet. the original clown who created the fake pictures at this point is prolly sittin back on his moms couch smoking a phatty and laughing at all the commotion he caused over nothing because he was bored a few days earlier. clown eventually confuses to causing the hoax, and for some reason you were prolly as blazed as him all week and amazing, somehow, missed it.

    You have not missed anything, apple still has a closed lid on the new imac. Just lots of false stuff floating around. I think steve has the same guys who kept Roswell secret for 50 years now working at Apple They may be old but they know their job.

    But did TempInsanity get reinstituted BECAUSE of this, or did it simply have to do with Paris coming up?

    Hell if we know; perhaps for both reasons. Ask Jambo. Apparently he's the one who resuscitated TI judging from the sticky post up top.

    I think the best hoax's are the ones that make no claims and don't give anything away.



    Basically you leave it all to people's imagination.



    The problems people had when trying to post the pic were nothing to do with me, but added to the 'conspiracy theory' that Apple were up to something!



    Now I wish I'd made the screen white!!!

    But I never thought it would reach 131000 hits!!!



    Rest assured, when the time is right I'll pull another one and see who guesses it first.
