Why can't I export to MPEG-2 in FCP HD? I am sure that I could no probs in FCP 3. Can someone guide me through the steps to reset my preffs and reinstall QT pro {providing this is the problem} to get my MPEG-2 export working again. All other export options work. eg. MPEG-4 .AVI .DVstream. What's going wrong.

HELP Now, Please.

Final Cut Pro 4 can use compressor to export to MPEG 2. If you use quicktime, I think you have to buy a extra plugin. (royalties and such) I personally think compressor is better at MPEG 2 since you have muck more control over the output. You may have this plugin already, since it used to work, but then it would show up in the menu along with all the others.

oh man do i know how you feel. i've been on the phone with apple for hours over this one. the culprit, as it turned out, on my system was some weird problem with dvd studio pro 3. i actually went ahead and did a clean install of panther, then installed dvd studio pro first because it was overwriting my mpeg-2 component before. i'll get you through this, but first, did you recently install anything? you may not have to do a clean install...

    uninstalling fcp HD

uninstallling dvdsp 3 (if you have it)
