Xbench disk test question
well i ran the system from my signature through Xbench today and recieved a 248.42--#40 on the giant list of scores. but anyways, what really hurt my score were low disk test performances. the volume i was testing was my main drive (160GB SATA), and somehow it didn't perform all too well. The top score on the G5 category has "Apple Read/Write" next to the the drive type whereas mine jsut says "Maxtor.. whatever" (the stock SATA drive which I actually thought was a seagate). Anyways, could there be some setting on my drive thats slowing it down?

first off how full is your drive? Also what was the difference in the drive scores?
Maybe run a program and see if you have an issue with it. I know my original 160GB drive with my G5 was defective. I called apple and they sent me a new one. I sent over the image and returned the defective drive no problem.

I got the same score for the 40gb 5400rpm drive ( maxtor ) that came with my emac as I did for the 80gb 7200rpm ( seagate ) that I replaced it with. While it may be some aspect of the emac that is causing the problem, at this point in time I dont think too highly of xbench's drive testing.
