Is it just me or is it common knowledge that you CAN'T grab pics (screenshots) from DVD movies?

And IF so, why is it like that?

Copyright rules. If you try running the Grab application directly, an alert comes up explaining it.

What you can do is get the VLC Player from videolan.org and do a screenshot with the DVD playing with it.

Thank you Jim, i've considered copyright issues. VLC doesn't play DVD Mpgs

We were able to get a screenshot of a dvd in our newspaper class last year. I don't remember exactly how, but we were running os9. mabe os 9 doesn't have the copyright restrictions.

OS 9 does something very strange with dvd screenshots. You could pause the movie, get a screenshot, open the picture and it appears. But if you start playing the DVD both the DVD player and the still picture will play show the movie.

It is considered common knowledge .. [though I may have to explain it to customers every now and then] .. if you want screenshots, http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ does it ..
