Ignore System Profiler "incorrect permissions"?
I just installed a new scanner driver in 10.3.5. When I looked at System Profiler's Software/Extensions section, I got this:
========================
hpPlugInInit:
VersionthpScannerUSB version 1.0.0d1
Last Modifiedt9/9/04 1:08 PM
Get Info StringthpScannerUSB version 1.0.0d1, Copyright 2000 Hewlett-Packard Company.
Locationt/System/Library/Extensions/hpPlugInInit.kext
kext Versiont1.0.0d1
LoadedtNo
ValidtYes
AuthentictNo
Authentication ErrorstFile owner/permissions are incorrect
DependenciestSatisfied
==========================
I had already repaired permissions before and after installation with Disk Utility and got no messages except for the DVD file which always comes up. I assume I can safely ignore the System Profiler message. Any ideas why this would occur?

If there isn't an appropriate entry in there for that file, it won't know if/how to fix it.
Edited: There is no receipt in the Library/Receipts folder
HP screwed up the permissions in the original file jammed into the installer, and there's no easy way to know what they should be, so they can't get fixed by Disk Utility.
