Problems with sending email from behind a router

My father uses Entourage with a POP or IMAP Earthlink.net address, and since we moved to broadband, he has not been able to send mail. We have a router, and he's connected via a crossover cable to it.

The router is a Netgear G router.

Is there an inherent problem with sending email behind a router?

Never mind, Earthlink has some kind of special outgoing server address for networked users.

    Thanks anyways.

You should probably connect via a straight through cable. Most new computers have autosensing/autoswitching ethernet ports, so it doesn't really matter, but if you're OC you'll want to swap it out.
