how can i set a default audio player?

everytime i play a song, itunes opens and play it (and automatically get added to my itunes library).

i want to keep my itunes library organized. so i want to change the default audio player. anyone know how to do so?

    Are you playing from a CD or a file like .mp3 or .aiff? If you are playing from a CD go to system preferences > CD's and DVD's > when CD is inserted > choose Application of choice. if you are playing from a file CONTROL click the file > get info > open with select your player of choice > then select the default player option.
