RAM recommendation

I am looking to replace my PNY PC100 256Mb chip with a 512Mb PC100. For some reason the PNY chip is all of a sudden recognized by my iMacG3 as PC133, which it definitely is not.

I have found excellent prices at MacSolutions and Other World Computing. Does anyone have an opinion about which is better, or have another suggestion? I checked Crucial and they are more expensive and dont have PC100 in 512Mb.

Thanks

    pc133 in a pc100 will be downclocked from 133 to 100

so go ahead & stick in a 133 chip

or check frys if they have any in stock

kingston ram is pretty good too

Are you sure about the PC133 for a iMacG3400DV?

I remember PNY saying that I couldnt use a PC133 for anything below 1Ghz. Perhaps they meant for a PC, not a Mac?

I would suppose its OK if Crucial is selling a PC133 512Mb for the iMac G3. Crucial tends to know their stuff. Its odd, though, that they have PC100 for 128 and 256Mb and only PC133 for 512Mb.

Anyone have any luck with any particular vendor out there, like OWC, MacSolutions, Crucial. Ramjet, etc?

    I put 4 x 256MB PC133 Kingston mempory in all of our G4's which range from dual 450Mhz to 867's (where only 3 or 2 slots available I use 512MB PC133).

Perhaps they mean G4 cpus? Our 2 Graphite Imac's (600Mhz) have 256MB PC133 in and recognized correctly.

Yes, I also just read somewhere that PC133's should be OK in the iMac. It just seemed wierd to me that Apple doesnt state that itself and recommends just PC100.

Looks like MacSolutions and Ramjet are Apple authorized resellers but Other World Computing isnt, if that means anything.
