Will any brand of DDR Ram work in a Dual 1.25Ghz G4 PowerMac. Is faster rated ram backwards compatible with the motherboard. Also is a memory heat spreader worth getting or will the case fan's do all the work?

for the first question i don't know but knowing Apple probabily no. 333 mhz DDR ram is still a fast Ram, 400 mhz DDR ram are not very reliable at the moment. DDR ram are supposed to produce less heat than the current SDRAM used before in the macs.

I've always used 3rd party RAM in my Macs and I don't think there's any way Apple could keep you from using 3rd party RAM (aside from building some strange custom RAM chip).

This is what you need to look for:

    184pin, 2.5volt, Cas Latency 2.5, 333Mhz DDR PC2700
