lol, well, this is the 3rd time something needed repairs on my 12" powerbook. This time, and I'm pretty sure it never ever happened to anyone else, the trackpad's clicker button is stuck. I dunno but the spring or something died, it went down, and never came back up. So the computer just clicks rapidly, opening anything I move the cursor close to. Also the screen is going unevenly lit again... They are gonna fix it, thank goodness for applecare!

The history:

1. 1st powerbook, chassis was not aligned so the screen hinge scraps frame

2. So they give me a 2nd powerbook, after a while the screen became unevenly lit, screen was replaced

3. Now, trackpad button stuck and screen is going uneven again...

Let's see, for ipods I'm on my 7th now, 6 of them had various problems.

in conclusion, everything will go wrong with me.

btw, what is apple's privacy policy? Will they go through my stuff, my poor documents and e-mails?

In my experiance, they don't have time nor do they care, the bad parts from yours are trashed (recycled technicly),new parts installed, and tested and that is that. And really, an apple tech who is has to fix a certin number of units per hr and / or day doesnt have time nor does he/she care what is on your hard drive.

Now a word of warnng: If anything illegal should surface durring the repair (for example when testing the trackpad, the tech opens iPhoto and sees kiddy porn), they will most likely call the police/feds but if all you do is "share" MP3s, you are likely safe...in my experiance.

    yay! I don't have that

I just didn't want them "harvesting" my information. Though they have pretty much effectively done that with all the registration I had to do. I have some passwords/important numbers in there... \

The clicker on my Pismo recently started making really loud clicks but it is totally my fault. I was eating a mango over it and it dripped. I learned the hard way. Still works though, and other than that I baby my laptop all the time.

Do you know if Apple gave you a new computer or a refurbished one?

Wow, you really have bad luck with Apple products.

It was another brand new one, He brought it out in a completely sealed black box with the pictures of the powerbook and apple logos on the sides of it. He opened up the box and took out the powerbook in the foam wrapping, but didn't give me the accessories that were in the box (charger, dvi/vga adaptors, phone line, etc) cuz I already had them. So I'm pretty sure it was a brand new one. Is there a difference in any case?

I'm going into powerbook withdrawal! I had to get one of those therapy pillow things (mogu I think http://www.mogu.com/ ) to have some support... \ I have to use this windows computer and man it can't multitask at all. All I wanted to do was web surf, instant message, and use itunes... and it has lagging problems with that (it's not exactly the slowest of computers either... amd athlon xp 2600+, 280gb HD, 768mb ram, 128mb radeon 9200 pro, but windows sure isn't that great...)
