I am going to re-encode all my cd's into lossless. Is there any easy script or plugin that will copy the names and ratings of the existing tracks to the new ones. I would also like something that would replace the old songs in my playlists with the new ones.

If the track information on your cd matches your current encoded files, then iTunes will automatically ask you if you wish to replace those tracks and it will maintain ratings, playcount, etc.

Just make sure track names, album name, genre, etc. match.

Thank You. I have dial-up, so I am usually not online when I import the CD's.

If you've imported the cds on your computer before it should remember the cd track names without needing to access the internet.

Just a little heads-up. If you have an iPod, the lossless codec is a drawback in that the iPod has to work a lot more to play your songs. This results in greater senstivity to shock, since disk access is way up. It also means battery life goes down quickly.

If this doesn't concern you, rip away!
