But the screen was not huge, even by my standards. But where were all the huge black bars that plagued my earlier dreams? Was this still a dream? And, could even Mr. Jobs reunite with her after those rude remarks? Had she changed for the better? Could Stevie see her more clearly, or in a new light? Hadn't he forgotten about her? Will I wake from this week?

    Entertainment device that can burn HDTV type data directly to dvd.



    Screen was not huge, even by my standards... The new iMac screen will be smaller than hoped.



    Huge black bars... somewhere in the creation of this "product" there was a technical glitch, or anti piracy issue that created black bars on the recorded material.



    Reunite, forgotten, etc...got me on that one. Microsoft? Sony? Disney? Newton?



    Anyone else care to try to decpher this one?

    Maybe not a device, but perhaps iMovie 3 does HDTV and therefore can be burned to DVD via iDVD??



    Black bars gone = widescreen?



    Is "she" La-la-land, Hollywood, Television?

    Eh. Kinda in-line with the Cube-based iMac rumors. I wish people would stop trying to be creepy in here and just say what they have to say.     Perhaps the lack of black bars refers to widescreen.



    Anyway, can one burn an HDTV (i.e. 1080i) broadcast to DVD (roughly 500 lines)? Would it be playable on current DVD players?

    Nope, standard DVD players will play standard-def video only.



    You could create an HD programming video file and burn it on a DVD-R but it wouldn't be a "DVD" by any standard that means anything as a consumer product.



    Now, a set top box that records satellite or broadcast HDTV signals for playback later.... I could go for that!

    There are no real standards in DVD players. I've just been through 5 of them and they all do things better/worse/differently from one another.

    Oh, I wasn't commenting on that particular aspect. Just that I've had fits on getting standard DVDs to work, as well as VCDs and MP3 and such. Even though they say it on the box

    More clearly == specifically HDTV?



    How about a set-top box (I know, ugly word) that downsamples the HDTV signal to allow at least a DVD quality picture on a regular TV? Or can send a real HDTV signal to any networked Mac? If the Mac has a Superdrive, then encode to DVD if desired. Has a hard drive to allow recording.



    Imagine a new iTool that enables you to program this device if you're at work, say, and decide you want to record a program. [Edit: the GUI would have point-and-click simplicity to record. Shows you a table of local channels, etc.]



    What is the 'screen' though? Some sort of remote control, that might also allow you to watch HDTV remotely? Would this require a new faster wireless?
