need helping installing panther

hi everyone i am new

i would just like to know how exactly do i install panther?

when i restart holding C, nothing happens. i also tried starting it up on a starup disk but it just restarted and nothing happend

also , i would like to ask on the panther cd holds the .DMG file or a disc file? thank you very much

    Holding down C on boot with the CD inserted will boot off the CD. The actual CD should not contain a .dmg.

    Are you using a legal CD? Or have you copied it?

    is the file on the CD supposed to be a .dmg file or a disk file? like what type of file appears when u insert the panther cd?

    Here's how you install Panther:

    1. Go to your local University Bookstore or Apple Store and buy a copy.

    2. Put the CD in the drive and restart.
