I want to do a clean install on my computer 10.3.5. But I do not want to loose all my emails and all my safari bookmarks. how do I copy these so I can put them all back in later after clean install?

    Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Mail

Copy this Mail folder to an external drive. This will copy all the mail that resides in the "On My Mac" in Mail.

Remember to take a note of all the POP/SMTP server settings and passwords.

You should probably make a backup of your entire home folder, and then pick out the bits that you need to restore after reinstalling the system.

Application settings are all in ~/Library, along with your email and bookmarks. Your iPhotos are in ~/Pictures, your mp3s are in ~/Music, etc.

... OR simply copy the "Keychains" folder, where all your passwords, logins etc are safely stored

But i highly recommend Towels approach too.

Towel clearly said it - copy the entire library and pick up what you need step by step. Your home library folder is crucial key here, though.
