Xserve and 2 XRaids.

We have a Dual 1.25 XServe and a 2TB XRaid (200GB HD's).

We are running out of space and I want to buy a new 3.5TB XRaid.

As I can't add another FCAL card I will probably need to buy a FCAL switch and plug in the existing Xserve and XRaid as well as the new one.

Has anyone done this?

Anyone know of any links that point to this type of setup.

I have done this on a couple of Suns and JBODs but we used all sun kit so there was nothing to question.

I have a NEO LTO unit for backing up 6TB (12TB compressed) so I'm sorted for backups.

Dobby.

There's no problem at all using an FC switch with a single Xserve and 2 Xserve RAIDs. That config is pretty much plug-and-play. It only gets a bit tricky when you want to have more than one Xserve connected to the same switch as an Xserve RAID... you have to do deal with LUN masking, or invest in something like XSan.

    hope that helps...

Thanks for reminding me about XSan. It shouldn't be too long before its out and I'll give it a whirl.
