Does anyone know of any good 18" to 19" LCD's for under 400. I'm looking to upgrade one of my mac's. I mostly will use this computer for Photoshop. Quark, Dreameaver, and some other stuff.

Pricewatch.com lists the Viewsonic VG-180 as the cheapest 18" you can purchase for $560 min.

You're looking at about 650US for a good 17" LCD. LCD's haven't fallen that much yet, but they will, eventually.

Sorry... I know of zero 18-19" LCDs that cost under $500, much less $400. It's almost impossible to find a new 17" LCD for $400 as well, I think I saw an ad once for a 17" LCD at $400, and it was a crappy LCD. A decent 18" LCD will probably cost about $650-$800.

Quallity! It really depends on what you do and what you need. If you're doing work that requires color calibration, no LCD is good enough. But if you want somthing easy on the eyes and light to carry, LCD.

Keep in mind that 18 and 19" LCDs (most anyways) have the same resolution as cheaper 17" LCDs (of 1280x1024), so you gain minimal advantage getting a bigger screen.

You can find 17" LCDs for under $500, though their quality isn't exactly the best... I've got an $800 samsung 17" screen myself...

I'm running a 19 inch NEC AccuSync 90 CRT display on my Quicksilver. It's bottom of the barrell from macmall.com but it works beautifully and goes up to 1920X1440 without a hitch. I've only had it since July so I can't vouch for its lifespan, but it was only $220 or so. Since I don't move my mac around on a regular basis, the only downside from LCD for me is the depth of the tube, but I'll put up with it for its dirt cheap price.

I'm thinkg of getting 2 Nec/Mitsubishi MultiSync FE991SB monitors. Have anyone had good experiences with these monitors, and are they worth the $320 their charging for them.

    I just ordered a viewsonic vg800 for $600 (USD).

    Viewsonic VG800

    1280x1024 (18")

    600:1 contrast

    25 ms pixel response

    Crappy built in stereo speakers

    VGA / No DVI

    VESA wall mountable

Check out pricegrabber.com... they'll probably point you to newegg.com. You can have it in two days for 600 total, including shipping and taxes.

OMFG! I just picked up the display from our receiving department.

I want to play with it so bad but that would be bad form here at our small medical manufacturing company.

Instead I'll just sit in my office, smelling the slightly opened box... mmmmm. It smells so good I want to lick it! No really, its got that good car smell.
