Prolonging the life of your iBook

I have had my iBook for 1 year now.

PowerPC G3

Ram: 640mb

HDa: 30gig

I was wondering what tips and tricks you may offer to extend the life of this ibook. I will need it for the next 5 to 8 years (No not in prison).

Thanks.

It's pretty much common sense: Keep it in a nice, cozy bag, and don't drop it. Don't put any undue stress on the hinge, and keep it away from food & water. Try not to move it from cold to warm environments too often; I'm sure the condensation can't be good for it.

I'm not sure how useful you'll find it in five years, though. A 3400c is extremely limited now.... Plus, laptops are, by their very nature, more prone to damage. The smaller parts don't have the lifespan of their bigger, beefier desktop counterparts, especially hard drives. I was looking at notebook HD's the other day, and they all were rated for a lifespan of five years. I fully expect to be putting another drive in my iBook with the way I use it (10-12 hours on (not asleep) a day).

Apple's page on batteries may also be of use.
