Can't get Microsoft Remote Desktop to work
I've been trying to connect to my friend's PC (running Windows XP Pro) using Remote Desktop Client for Mac, but can't get it to work.
My friend's PC is connected to the Internet through the Linksys wireless router. I've setup DMZ on my friend's PC already, but when I try typing the public IP of his Internet connection (the IP set on the wireless router) into the connection text field and press connect, RDC keeps giving me "The client could not connect to the remote computer" error.

Be sure you have remote access turned on on your friend's PC.

We're talking RDC by Micosoft and not the Apple Remote Desktop !
Lastly, wouldn't it be easier to just use the Remote Assistance feature instead (he emails you an invitation)?

Both computers must be running Windows XP to use this feature.
You need to forward the port from the router to whatever IP address the router supplying his computer, assuming he's using DHCP. It should be something like 192.168.XXX.XXX. Most routers have an administration panel that you can access through a web browser to forward the port. For instance I have an Asante router. If I type 192.168.123.254 in to Safari I can access my router's admin panel. Check your user's guide for instructions on how to do it.
