CD not mounting on desktop

During wiping an external firewire HD with Norton Utilities, OSX10.2.8 froze (force quit didn't work). When [forced] restarting, external hd volume and CD would not mount. Restarting in OS9.2 would mount both fine. Back in OSX, ext hd mounts but not CD (eject key doesn't work either). Norton Utilities couldn't mount the CD either.

I have had several, but unrelated, problems with Norton before, and uninstalled all Norton apps but that didn't solve it.

Disk Utility can see the volume but reports unmounted.

'DU -> First Aid -> Verify disk' gives this message in the report: ..."Master Directory Block needs minor repair"...

How do I solve this problem?

Thanks,

Johan

I'll move this to Genius Bar, where the troubleshooters are.

After a good night's sleep the Mac booted nicely with CD on the desktop and eject key working again. Can only explain this with the Mac needing a longer pause than just restarts and REMOVING ANYTHING NORTON!!

Some further checks with Disk Utility or other tools may be wise, but so far so good.

    Cheers!
