Audio Out Issues
Hi there. I've been working on a little problem I've been having. I've had garageband for a while now, and only recently got the cable I needed to pkug in my guitar to my eMac. In the past, I've had a bit of a problem with my stereo emitting a hum when connected to the eMac, but I've been able to either tune it out or adjust the equalizer levels on the stereo itself. Now, I'd like to be getting very accurate sound, especially when I'm tweaking amps.
I've been trying for a while now to get this fixed. After exhaustive analysis and factoring out possibilities, I've been told I'm dealing with a ground loop. My understanding of that is the room I'm in is wired in parallel, and the fact that the computer is plugged into a strip in an outlet on one wall and the stereo on a strip in an outlet on the opposite wall causes a bit of feedback of some sort.
I experimentally plugged the computer into a plug strip, and that plugstrip into another that plugs into the outlet, and it seems to have reduced the hum a great deal, but it's still there. I'd rather not have to blast my stereo to eliminate it from my hearing.
Do you have any ideas? If I can't get rid of this, I'll have to go and invest in a pair of studio monitor headphones. Please help me try and save some money if you can
. Thanks.
