B&W G3 Firewire not working

I just purchased a used 450MHz G3 B&W Tower. It's got the REV 2 motherboard (obviously) and the FW daughter card installed.

In the System Profiler, Firewire doesn't show anything, but it's physically present (attached to the motherboard).

I'm running OS X.3.5 with all the security patches. Completely up-to-date...

Any ideas?

Do you have a FireWire device hooked up to it when you run the Apple System Profiler? (Hooked up and turned on).

When I run the System Profiler on my computer it shows up as nothing until I plug a FireWire device into it.

I just tried hooking up my FW hub. It's got a FW HD hooked up to it and my Canopus ADVC-200TV. No luck...

I'll try rebooting with the stuff hooked up and turned on...

    fulmer,

I wish I had a solution for you but unfortunately I don't. The only problems I have ever had with Firewire or USB has been solved by unplugging the device and then replugging it in.

Maybe your Firewire card is bad or just unseated? Did Firewire come standard on your computer? I am using a B&W G3 also and mine has Firewire but I don't recall if all B&W G3's came with Firewire or not.

    Hello,

I bought the computer used (from a store). It came with the FW card installed directly to the motherboard (upper corner of the motherboard). I checked to make sure it was seated properly (it was). Maybe I just got a bad daughter card...

Well you could obviously buy a generic Firewire card for about $20 and it should work fine.

Ya, I think that's what I'm going to have to do. Does anyone reccomend a specific brand?
