Older PowerBook overheating

I have a Titanium PowerBook 667 DVI that overheats under 10.3.5 I have tried reseting pram and other fixes found in this forum and others but it still overheats. I had to downgrade it to an older version. Has anyone else seen this? Under the older versions and Linux the Powerbook is fine so I don't believe it to be hardware related.
