Network Difficulties

hello there my flat mates and I have tried to get a network working and it has been a sucess all apart from one mac its a imac with 10.2 on it. my mac has no problems with logging on to the net but his is not working at all. It has tried to dial up to aol ( i used to have aol on my pc and i know how evil it is when you dont want it on any more.



SO ANY IDEAS

    We're going to need more info... how exactly is he network set up? What are the other machines? etc.

    ive got an powerbook g4 and there are two pc laptop all with ethernet cards internal, we use a router made by belkin its a 4 hub one. and the net connection is cable 750 k , is that good

    sorry their is the troubled imac too which is connected to the same hub but not picking the net up?

    Well, some basic troubleshooting -

    First, go into the iMac's System Preferences and look under Network. Make sure it has all the same settings as the Powerbook.



    Try using one of the cables from the working computers with the iMac (it could just be a bad cable), and also try plugging the iMac into one of the ports on the hub that the working computers are using (could be a problem w/the hub).

    ill try the diferent hub ports but if that fails then what is there somethg wrongf with tthe mac itself

    It could also be the distance of the iMac from the hub. With a short cable take the iMac close to the hub and see if it works then.

    ok, ive just been told that aol was installed on the imac could there be something with that on it, that could be annoying it
