ipod as flash memory

I am thinking about buying a new flash memory stick to carry files between locations to a mac. I have been told that you can us an ipod as a portable hardrive for this as well. Is this true? How would this work? can I just jack it in to a port or do i need to install some sort of software as well?



I haven't got an ipod yet, but if I could use it for this purpose then I will get one as it has a higher carrying capacity than a normal stick.

    Just check one box in the preferences and an iPod will show up as a regular hard drive.
