I've been waiting for this--someone finally stripped all the paint from a TiBook, and posted pictures of the process.

I think I like it. i wish they would post more substantive details on what they used to do the stripping, recommendations, etc.

i have a Ti500 laying around due to a strange work situation, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't give this a try.

Yeesh. The swirls and smears make it look like he did a very uneven job applying whatever chemical that was.

I don't know about the TiBooks, but the G4 Tower (and I've read the white iBook also) paint dissolves in 90+% isopropyl alcohol. I did mine a long time ago. It was very easy. I was going to dremil some holes in the metal case and put some cold cathode lights inside, but I got lazy and didn't get around to cutting.

Very intersting pictures but really not amazed by it all!

Why in gods name would you FVCK up your TiBook to make it look like shite?

Exactly...mine has some issues as well cosmetically. I can't really tell what it looks like from the photos--ifit came out sort of grungy/industrial, that might be cool.

That was the work of vmarks, a moderator over at MacNN.

Looks a little uneven, but there are no "before" pictures to compare to. Could be a big improvement.

    Took some big cahonies, anyway.

That clear G4 of yours looks quite nice, Brad. If I end up replacing my iMac with a PowerMac, I'll be very tempted to get some <a href="http://www.appleskinz.com/"; target="_blank">AppleSkinz</a>.

I especially like the red carbon fibre covers. Their website says that they've got replacement panels for iBooks coming as well. I would love a black or red carbon fibre case for my iBook. The only thing I'm afraid of is the Oreo effect: a layer of white cream between two layers of black chocolate cookie would look odd.

I like it. Looks industrial, more interesting than just regular boring PowerBooks at least... I'd do it, if I had a PowerBook that I wasn't dependant on, was out of warranty, and had a big ol' dent in the top of it like his did/does (especially if it was dented like that.. it looks terrible with just the dent in the paintjob).

The only thing I wonder about is why he didn't do all over the case.. I parts still with paint.

I'd like to see someone strip the paint and anodize the PowerBook some tasteful color.
