MacMall hac the base iMac for $999 when you buy RAM. is this really a good deal? the wording has me confused. Does this mean they are clearing way for new models?

I'm sure they're probably trying to get rid of the iMacs. They're $999 after a $150 rebate so it sure looks like a good deal.

I think it's just some 'creative' pricing...but still a good deal.

Basically you'll end up paying $1,200.00 for an iMac with CD-RW and 640MB of RAM.

Of course that's the price after a couple of mail-in rebates. I hate those. I think they rely on people like me who always forget to send in the rebate.

Could this mean that the 15" LCD iMac is soon to be EOL'd?

As <a href="http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?threadid=13251"; target="_blank">noted elsewhere</a>, the 15" monitor (not iMac) is <a href="http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/194/wo/Y0JKV1lo9giCMQ16ab/0.3.0.3.27.7.0.CoverPageLeftAccessoriesPromo.1.1.0 .3.3.11.3.1.1.0" target="_blank">no longer available</a> via the Apple online store. So, could be...

Wow, that definitely is "creative" pricing to call the iMac $999. That's like saying this house is only $100,000 if you also buy the land for $50,000.

It isn't $999, it's $1168. It's still less than the apple store price, plus you get more RAM. It's like they're giving you a 512 RAM chip for $20. But that's pretty standard fare.

No biggie, just a pretty good deal on extra RAM.
