Finder mounts NFS shares in read-only mode?
I have been playing with a test NFS server running 10.3.5 and a NFS client also running 10.3.5
I have noticed that when I mount an NFS export in the client's Finder (Connect to Server box:, nfs://server/path_to_export/"), I am always limited to read-only access to the NFS share, no matter how the export is configured on the server. But when I mount the exact same NFS share from the same client using Terminal ("mount_nfs server
ath_to_export /path_to_local_mount_point"), I get the expected results, and thus have read and write access as configured on the server. This result seems to be similar to Finder's FTP connection limitations as well. FTP, as you well may know, does not allow read + write access in the Finder, no matter how the user account is configured on the server. The FTP bug/limitation is well documented, but I haven't found documentation regarding NFS limitations.
Can someone out there please confirm that the Finder mounts NFS in a read-only mode? I'm scratching my head here...
Thanks!
