Done deal - new PBook
Well, after waiting for months, reading endless banterings about new hardware "soon", I finally ordered and now have my new 800TiBook (1Gb RAM) and 23" Cinema display on my desk.
I am one very contented customer.
Even if Apple release a new model tomorrow, I won't care.
Jaguar runs fast. Adobe apps function well. I can get on with my work and be productive.
Either here in the office or sitting on the grass in the cool shade of the tree in my yard, Airport connected and surfing, with this fast enough, sleek laptop.
Yes, I suppose it would be nice to iSync with an inbuilt bluetooth, but I don't have a Sony T68i nor do I really need one. I have had access to DVD-RAM drives and Superdrives for a long time, and I have never once burnt a DVD.
I would have had all this much sooner if I had only not paid attention to the unfounded speculations posted on forums like these. However, everything has a purpose and I'll continue to read and submit an occasional post.
When all is said and done, life is just fine, thankyou Apple.

Congratulations on your new PowerBook, though. I am sure you will be happy. I am about to take my Pismo OSX.2, so wish me luck.

I can't believe you wouldn't wait until next Wednesday for the next refresh. Did you really think that all these rumors have no basis in fact?

That's what I was thinking. I can see buying something when you think there might be an update 3 months from now....but a week or two? That's either ignorant, impatient, or stupid. He could have found one on ebay next week, NIB and sealed for $1000 less.
Hello?

You still have one heck of a nice computer. That screen must be awesome. Even though Wednesday will bring new TiBooks, that doesn't mean you have a bad computer right? RIGHT!
I can't wait until the new iBooks! (currently I have a 366 iBook and I'm going to buy a new one)
He needed it now and got it now. It's all good.
plus there may be issues with the new machines that need to be worked out... you never know

I'd love to hear your experiences. The more recent models obviously have much more graphics power than my Ti 500 with a lowly 8 MB of VRAM.

Considering my Ti's video performance, I'm skeptical of the Ti's ability to drive a Cinema Display. Let alone driving both the Cinema and the internal LCD.

d00d, you've got half the vram on an older chipset.

You must feel like the dumbest Mac Fanatic on the planet about now. You can't say we didn't warn you. Duh!

you must be a real asshole....
look you can wait another month for your computer... but macaholic is using his computer RIGHT NOW for at least a month longer then anyone who gets a PB now and for some people that extra month is worth whatever $ they lost in not waiting... so dont assume that he got screwed... because he really didnt
i mean getting screwed is waiting and waiting and waiting for an update only to wait another month after it is announced....
are you even going to buy a PB or just complain about them?
