KVM-like device for Mac?

Is there a device out there where I can hook up a standard USB-based Mac keyboard and mouse, and an Apple DVI display (17" Studio Display) to multiple computers (like the KVM devices for Windows machines?)

I have a G5 1.8GHz DP right now, and I'm planning on getting a PB in the next few months. I'd like to be able to use the PB with an external keyboard, mouse, and display when I'm at my desk.

(I suppose I could just mount the PB HDD over the network to get to my files, but that would mean having to share it, not to mention powering up two computers to do the work of one...)

How about a... KVM switch? I haven't seen anyone with the exact set up you have but I know several people using KVM switches with Macs and as far as I know they are all just plain old KVM switches. I don't think the switch knows what kind of machine it is connected to.

It doesn't. A KVM just routes USB and video appropriately.

The problem is the DVI display. Belkin make both a two port and a four port DVI (USB) KVM switch. I think it's also got a two port USB hub built in, so you can switch some peripherals along with your keyboard and mouse. Here's a link:

I know that Dr. Bott is working on one as well, but that's not currently available. Hope this helps.

check out the resolution before buying. I think the max res on a dvi kvm is 1600x1200. i don't recall the res of the old Apple 17" display so u might one to check it to make sure. To be honest i don't think its worth it to get a dvi kvm at this moment since it makes a future upgrade to a higher res display point less.

Dr. Bott makes a ADC KVM switch. I don't think I've ever seen a DVI Apple 17" LCD display, they were all ADC.
