Has anyone watched the ipod photo stream? Steve's presentation had some very nifty transitions in it. New features from the forthcoming Keynote prehaps?
When a title appeared on screen the letters slid in from both sides of the screen till they were at proper spacing.
One new transition was like turning a page. The current slide curled up and off to the left revealing the new slide. As it did so you could briefly see the back side of the old slide.
There was a ripple transition reminiscent of the Tiger Dashboard demo. Like throwing a pebble in a pond. As the ripples spread outward the current slide morphed into the new slide.
One of the tables appeared with a transition similar to the current cube. Cube is currently only available as a slide transition.
Maybe some others I missed. Looked really nice. I wonder what kind of projector they have that can display a screen size image at the kind of resolution Steve is using. I'll guess it's a 1280 x 850 or so display size.
I also noticed that the QT stream for this event was much higher than before. I averaged a little over 425kbps whereas I think we used to get about 300kbps. I wonder if this is the look of things to come. It was really nice. I doubled the size then used command option + to have it almost fill the screen. Very few artifacts were visible unless the camera panned quickly from side side.
The effects look a lot as if they derive from the new CoreVideo/CoreImage framework.
I haven't had the chance to work with Keynote yet, but I had to try a couple of other presentation software (PPT etc.) recently, and there where quite a few things that bugged me. So, I hope that the improvements in Keynote will not solely consist of new transitions and themes.
OK, I did see those. I'm pretty sure it's a new version of keynote now. I predict Steve will show it at MWSF 05, but be released along side Tiger. It would make sense to have it support Core Image/Video, and will likely be the first premiere app from Apple to support the technology. From what I remember seeing the Tiger preview, there are awesome effects that would really propel Keynote beyond PowerPoint. I just hope they don't just as transitions and actually add some other features, such as exporting each slide as individual jpegs (which we use to create slideshows on our site). What are some other features on everyone's wishlist?
