Hmmm! That´s what I said when Bush won the election 4 years ago...

No..seriously...I think the clickwheel is a serious candidate for the remote control. As to the Dock having a holographic display...well, that's a bit too much..maybe a laser pointing display like those Oregon Scientific alarm clocks.

Not sure about the holographic part but I like the idea of them using the clickwheel for a remote. I don't know, but it just feels right.

This would be the ultimate set top box.

Plug your iPod and control it from a distance...

CAn you say " Playing Solitaire sitting on your couch from across the room...."

    Cool concept.

    Speakers look out of place...

    (NO offense of course...)

too many wires. If you are going to create starwars like holographic technology, at least remove the freakin speaker wires!

Screw the holographic technology. Put the screens on the remotes and make them AirPort instead of IR.

Does technology to allow the holographic display even exist?

However, i think the concept is good. When i saw the Bose iPod dock thingy, i immediately thought 'it should have a projection of the iPod's screen onto the wall behind it. That is well within the realm of possiblitiy, and wouldn't even be that expensive, i think.

It would look similar to nsousansousa's mockups in this thread except that the image would be thrown onto the wall behind the device.

That, and a clickwheel remote, and you'd have a revolution in home stereo equipment....

Great ideas. Of course the holographic thing is a little far fetched (for now)

I could, however see the base employing bluetooth or upcoming bluetooth extreme technology to communicate with the remotes. I could easily envision Apple using a single or double lined display right on the remote itself, similar to how iTunes displays track info for the current song.
