How'd they do that?

I went to the computer store a few weeks ago, told them I wanted to switch...and had them show me why it would be a great idea.

The major thing that stuck in my head was how you can change how much ram is dedicated to certain programs, minimized programs, ect.

But...I don't remember how they got to it.

Does anyone know? It was suggested to me on another forum that it was a unix code you can easily do, but this looked more like a program where you just input the percentage of ram you want for everything...not a long list of code.

Anyways...is there a primer for the unix coding that I hear some people talk about that "makes their computer better"?

I think what they were saying was that OS X allots memory automatically, which is one of OS X's greatest features over OS 9.
