NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra in a G4?

I have a Powermac G5 Dual 1.8 which I just bought a 9600 XT card for on ebay. Once I install it, can I put my GeForce FX 5200 Ultra into a Powermac G4 dual 450 (Gigabit Ethernet Model), or will it only work in a G5?

Thanks for the help...

I thought 8x cards can be run at lower speeds, i.e. 2x. However I did try a 9600 card from a G5 in a MDD G4 and it wouldn't work, the card would physically not fit in the slot.

You are correct, cards can be run at lower speeds. I'm running a 8x Radeon 9500 on my 4x motherboard.

AGP 8x cards are backwards compatible with AGP 4x slots, but I do not believe they are with AGP 2x because it's 2 generations behind and doesn't use the same AGP specification revision at all.
