Just a quick question, what's the quickest software that converts QT-readable movies into DVD content? I've tried iDVD and Toast, both of which are fine but I don't think either uses both processors, does any other software use both to increase conversion time?

Thanks.

If you can afford it, check out DVD Studio Pro. It includes Compressor which is built for Dual G4s & G5s. Supposedly it works waay faster on G5s though.

The fastest I've used is Mainconcept's, one hour of DV takes about an hour and 40 minutes to convert to mpeg2 (this is on a Powerbook 1.25GHz - using 1 pass VBR).

On dual G5s though it can be faster that real-time I've heard.

Try it out for free here (the demo leaves a small watermark):

i compress all my dv footage with FInal cut's mpeg-2 exporter (which is compressor in a pretty form). I do two pass VBR encoding with a traget bitrate of 4-6 and a max of 7. I'm a videophile, if there is such a thing, so i like my mpegs to be as artifact free as possible. generally speaking, my dual 2.5 G5 encodes at that level basically in real-time.
