I have a 867 Powerbook combo drive. The cd drive works well, plays cd's reads files fine but when i try to boot from it (trying to install 10.3) it just makes a lot of nois shows a flashinf folder with a question mark in it and spits out the CD. I hace tried booting holding the "C" key and with out. it does it ither way. I have also had the same results booting from the hardware test cd. Any ideas?

Does your Powerbook read movie DVDs properly? Is your boot disk a CD or a DVD?

My 10.3 came as 3 disks, CD's. Disk one has 632.2 MB. It sounds like your pb just doesn't like the CD. On some of the old iMacs we had a problem with them not reading thick disks. Make sure your disk is clean with no scratches. Sometimes a good cleaning will let it mount.
