Everyone probably already knows about this, so I'll contain my excitement. But, I never knew I could do this... figured it out while tinkering with Disk Utility today.



Open Disk Utility - Go to Images - New - Image from Folder



Now you can create a disk image (.dmg file) from a folder. You can encrypt it, mount it, etc. Totally cool.



That's all...

    Nothing to laugh about ! I sold my 5 year old iMac for a price WAY ABOVE what I honestly should have asked for.



    And all this because of ONE thing !



    a 15 gb dmg-file, encrypted of course !

    is there any way to make the image file become bigger on-the-go? so I can keep adding/deleting stuff?



    I just did a small test of a totally empty folder. made it into an encrypted image... did a get info... it was 8.2MB large!!! And there was 0k in the folder. What the heck takes so much space?
