I am looking for a decent to good microphone for my 1.6ghz G5. In high school I used to use the little mac mic and some sharware to record my oral reports for class. I need a microphone again now and was wondering what is a good one to get? and what would be a good OSX software to record?

thanks

I recommend Audacity for audio software. It's FREE and very easy to use (for the most part). It also has many advanced features that can be helpful when needed.

No recommendation on the microphone. If you're simply using it to record speech, any microphone should suit you just fine. If you're using it for music purposes as well... that's a different story.

This is the Best computer mic I have encountered. It also works great for GB.

I'm pretty sure any USB microphone will work with a mac, it will be auto-detected (don't take my word on it). So you don't have to spend $50 on a mic...

True, but I own one of these and I am telling you that it is worth the $50. It is much better than your typical computer mic.
