Problems with installation of Airport Extreme card in G4 Powerbook
Long time lurker, first time poster so be gentle.
I have a refurbished G4 12 in. Powerbook, have had it for about 6 months. No Airport card installed when we got it. I bought one yesterday and installed it, carefully following directions. After I was done, I could not get computer to start up, no matter what I tried. So I removed battery again, fiddled with Airport card a bit, replaced battery, and tried again. Powerbook started fine, but when I went to the Airport setup assistant, it did not recognize a card as being installed. Shut everything down, went inside again, I must have fiddled so that it was not snapped in. Snapped it back into place, replaced battery etc., tried to start up. This time the screen turned on but froze at the gray apple screen. Couldn't get any farther. Went back in, removed the new card altogether and I'm back in business.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something wrong with the card?
