Photo Cameras and iMovie/iDVD
Hi there. I don't do enough video recording to go out and buy a Digital Video Camcorder, but some few tid bits I do want, I seem to be able to capture with my camera. I'm looking into the market for a new camera, but what I'd also like to do is transport the video I can have from that to iMovie or iDVD to burn to DVDs or whatever matter I want for that time. It doesn't have to have any realy requirement as far as brands go but I just wanted to know if this was possible with photo cameras and their video features they have. Right now I have a Sony Camera that records to MPEG format and I've tried to troubleshoot it on my own, but as far as I can get is getting it to work in Quicktime.
Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks, once again.

The MPEG movie you get from the camera is not DV standard. It is probably smaller and with a lower frame rate.
From QT you can export to DV format. This could then be used by iMovie which would export a standard DV clip for iDVD after you edit it.
(or some newer ones will do 640x480 (VGA).)
When you "export" your finished iMovie project, You'll want to use the same or smaller resolution, or you'll get a pixelated picture.
(This may be stating the obvious ...)
As for the format to convert to ... use whatever suits your purpose.
