If you have a AirPort Base Station and a powerbook, can you just conect your adsl conection right into the AirPort Base Station and then just surf the net from the Powerbook? Ore do the AirPort Base Station have to be conected to another mac?

Im dreaming of surfing the net around the house whitout anny wires.

Yup, as long as you have an Airport card in your Powerbook, or a third party wireless network card...

Right. Also, if you have a second computer, it can be hooked directly to the Base Station, and both can share the DSL line. The station has a built in router.

    Thx alot

Great this wuld be wonderfull, and the Powerbook wuld detect the network automatacly to, isent that right.

But its quite complicated <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> if the Adsl conectin is already split by a switsh ( fort the other crappy Non wireles computers) can i still just conect a line from the switch and into the Airport base station?

So i belive that an ordinary pc`s (not mac) can also use the wireles network then if i wil get a wireles network cardds... right?

The Airport has one input for the DSL modem (ethernet), and one output for a Ethernet line.

Plug the DSL modem into the Airport, plug the other switch into the Airport. (so that the airport is the first router/switch ... this should ease configuration/firewall implementation.)

Yes, Windows will work with the airport, as long as you have an 802.11b wireless card installed.

I use an airport with an Origional iMac (266) OSX, an iBook OSX, and an EMachine running XP. All can surf simultaneously with no problem and I can send files back and forth between computers ... even the Windows machine... very convenient.

But I have one last question....

let me get this straight, do you nead anny computer conected directly into the airport bace station? Say that i only had a powerbook and athe airport base station..... Chuld the base station be conected to the adsl line, wail i wuld be surfing in an other part in my house whit only a wirwles conection between them? wuld this work? the only thing tat wuld be conected to the airport station wuld be a powersuply and the ADSL line.

    more questions:

So with an airport base station, would I have to set up special accounts with my DSL in order for both to be online at once?

And, to send from one computer to another how do I set them up to reckognize each other?

    I haven't got one installed yet so I don't know . . . hopefully its all MAC easy . . . .

No special accounts needed to share your 1 DSL line out to all your computers using airport. By default the airport base station is set to use DHCP which will give all your computers using airport or connected to it a 10.x.x.x number. Just make sure that Airport is Configured to use DHCP under the System Prefs/Network/TCPIP.

Turn file sharing on and then from the finder menu select the go then connect to server option.
