Microsoft User Data in Office 2004

In Office X, I created an alias to my Microsoft User Data folder in my Documents folder so that I could keep it somewhere else (~/Library/Application Support - where it should be to begin with, IMO.) Does this trick still work in Office 2004? I haven't had a chance to test it out (the Test Drive is a rather large download; can't get it), but I'm planning on purchasing Office 2004. Anyone know?
