Well, the testimonies have been leaked and SURPRISE Giambi, Sheffield, Bonds, etc used steroids. Giambi admitted all while Bonds in a horrible attempt to save himself said he didn't know what he was taking.

The Yankees are looking to void Giambi's contract immediately. What will the Giants do to Bonds? Will his contract be void?

I don't even know if Giambi's contract will be able to be void. The Yankees would have to prove that they had no knowledge of his steroid abuse. Based on anonymous teammate comments after the leak, it seems his use was pretty well known and seen throughout the team. Hell, he even admitted to injecting himself on a plane through his pants while with the Oakland Athletics.

Also, what effect does this now have on records? Is Bonds the homerun champ? What about Sosa and McGwire's numbers? They have denied all accusations but their situation is very similar to Bonds, Giambi's and sheffield's.

Here's my take on this whole B.A.L.C.O deal. With the revelation of testimony given to a grand jury by Jason Giambi about his use of illegal performance enhancing substances, we are now just one turn of the page closer to the same fate for Barry Bonds. And I will revel at the hour it happens. Everyone knows that Bonds is juicing. How can a guy at his age, so late in his career, continually get bigger and stronger year after year? How ironic is it that the season he began weight training with Greg Anderson - a known dealer of illegal steroids - Barry bulked up like Tyson and consequently blasted 73 home runs? Giambi?s testimony is as close a link between Bonds and steroids that we have yet to see. The circumstantial evidence is so strong against Barry yet he continues to deny any wrongdoing all the while continuing to cheat. My God, Scott Peterson was convicted with less evidence. Barry Bonds is a sham, a fraud, a disgrace ? to all legitimate players before him and those to follow, to every fan who ever enjoyed the game, to his Godfather Willie Mays, and to his father Bobby. The guy is a bum and an ungrateful jerk. May all the powers that be come down upon him and strike from him every record that he ever held that has anything to do with baseball. This story began with Bonds and it will eventually end with Bonds. Game?s over Barry, the house wins.

I think Giambi is a bitch for lying consistently over the years about steroids and saying its an insult to him to question him. However, at least when under oath he spilled all and was a man. Bonds, same can't be said.

You are really harsh on Bonds, but the fact is, steroids are clearly used by MANY in baseball. There are tons of players who have bulked up similarly. Bonds and Giambi have just become sort of examples but nothing will resolve the issue until the Players Union stops "protecting" their players

Steroids and other 'performance enhancing drugs' need to be banned from Major League Baseball. The Player's Association and the owners need to agree on this. Not only that, but players who see other players using steroids should be required, by contract, to turn that person in.

A major problem is that there is no way to test for these drugs. So even if someone is turned in as being thought to use steroids, there's no guarantee that they'd be able to detect it.

But if MLB cannot prevent players from using these drugs, the game will be ruined. Mark McGwire broke Roger Maris' home run record while on 'performance enhancing drugs'. Sammy Sosa, who also had more than 61 home runs, was caught using a corked bat a few years later and was suspended for a few games. Funny how cheating using a corked bat is punished while cheating using steroids is not.

Barry Bonds broke the Home Run Record while on steroids whether he knew it or not (Yeah right).

Whether we like it or not, the Home Run Record is tarnished. McGwire with drugs, Sosa with a corked bat, and Bonds with Steroids. Would any of these guys hit that many homers without their 'help'? This is why steroids ruin the game, we will never know.

Also, take into account the playoff ramifications of steroid use. For example, Jason Giambi hit 2 Home Runs in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. The Red Sox lost that game by 1 run in the 12th inning. Would Giambi have hit 2 home runs had he not been on steroids? Again, we will never know.

Speaking of Giambi, his brother, Jeremy Giambi, who played for the Red Sox in 2003 also used steroids but was injured for most of the season (likely due to his steroid use).

The steroid use has to stop or the effect on the game will be much worse than the Strike/Lockout. BTW, where did you see that Sheffield used steroids?

well, no official admittance yet. but based on giambi's testimony, sheffield's link and sheffield's past comments I'd say he did and it will be shown he did

Almost every professional athlete, and every olympian, is on some sort of banned performance enhancing drug. I know enough folks who work in the pro sports industry (not athletes themselves), and even a handful of olympians to be pretty sure that their consistent testimonies are true.

If you didn't think Bonds was on roids, you're a fool.
