ATI Radeon 7000 PCI speed boost after 10 months
The computer is an G3 Tower Beige with G4/500 ZIF from Sonnet.
I also have a Sonnet Tempo PCI card and an ATI Radeon 7000 PCI 64 MB (flashed) installed.
After ten months with a lot of trouble, a lot of lockups and disk damage, I decided to re-initialize my hard disk.
I re-updated the firmware, I went from the latest version (oct 2004) back to the version of two years ago.
And guess what?
I got a speed boost of 15% under OS9. No more disk damage and no more lockups. When I surf the internet with Mozilla, I have to set the monitor to 256 colors.
I did benchtests with Macbench, Speedrun and Norton System Info and all confirmed that the 2D acceleration was improved by 15%. (also with thousands and millions of colors)
I now use the drivers from september or october 2002.
Strange..
